Neutrals at Valentino

I think that Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli at Valentino had a really strong showing for Spring 2010 RTW.I know most people think of pastels for Spring, but I love a good neutral palette for warmer climes.

Watch Fab

I am a huge fan of large jewelry. I'm also a huge fan of watches. So it's really no wonder that I wear a men's watch. I like the look of a large wristwatch on a lady's dainty wrist. Plus, if you pair a men's watch with a crisp white shirt you have instant chic every time. It'll make you feel like C. Z. Guest.

Disconnected

I have not completely forgotten I'm a blogger. My internet has been down for three days. I was this close to setting up camp at Starbuck's when we finally got it figured out.

Fall RTW 2010

I haven't really noticed a lot of Alberta Ferretti's collections in the past. Now I'm a total convert. The Fall RTW collection is full of beautiful, beautiful clothes that I think are appropriate all year long.

Bill Holden!

Does anyone else remember the "I Love Lucy" episode where she's super excited to meet Bill Holden?

Tart

I just tried a new ice cream flavor: pomegranate with dark chocolate chips. Um, delicious. Sheer Bliss makes it and can be found in the local supermarché. I've been burned with fruit flavors before but this, this is immensely flavorful. I love taking an epicurean chance and being pleasantly surprised.

Miss Manners

It's true, I am obsessed with good manners. As a Southerner, I appreciate it when people call me ma'am (even if they're older than I am), when men hold the door, or when people sincerely thank me. I believe people should be aware of their actions and how they affect others at all times.

That being said, I have several volumes on etiquette. I recently purchased Kate Spade's little volume on etiquette. I'm not finished yet, but I heartily agree with Miss Spade's advice. As an added bonus, the illustrations are absolutely adorable.

Spring into Film

So I just bought myself a new 32-inch flat screen. Yes, it's beautiful. No, I don't have any time to enjoy it yet. Hopefully by the end of the week I'll be able to squeeze some movie time in. It seems like every year during the first glimpses of Spring I tend to watch the same movies. High Society, To Catch a Thief, and the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice are some of my favorites. All three have realy vibrant, airy settings that use nature scenes a good deal. Plus, in both Grace Kelly movies, you get amazing clothes.

Laura Lauren

If I could live in a world where everyone wears Ralph Lauren I would always be a happy person. Or if all the men could look like his sons. If I married one of them and became his daughter in law, I would be Laura Lauren. How cool would that be?

Fail

I got terrible news yesterday. I went into my favorite Starbucks, ordered my usual Grande Dark Roast, and got rejected. The young man behind the counter had the nerve to tell me that Starbucks got rid of Dark Roast. WHAT? Am I the only person in the world who enjoys a ridiculous amount of caffeine on a daily basis? I have to find a new regular drink. Or a new coffee shop...

Anna Wintour would not have to put up with this!

Hilarious

I was reading one of my usual blogs, Hip Hostess, when I found a link to this guffaw-inducing one. Unhappy Hipsters is definitely something to lift your spirits if you're feeling a bit glum.
